Intimate Partner Relationships

There is one thing that makes romantic relationships hard: Expectations.

  1. Expectations that you didn’t know you had

  2. Expectations you had that you assumed would be common sense or shared by your partner

I help individuals in relationships navigate through this experience. Request a free consultation if you are someone who:

  • Has a partner who is not open to therapy or couples counseling

  • Are currently seeing a couple’s counselor and wants some 1:1 supPORT

  • Suspect they may be engaging in patterns that sabotage their relationship

  • Has not fully healed from past relationship and attachment trauma

  • Often feels overwhelmed with uncomfortable emotions within their relationship

My Core Beliefs

There are two major concepts that shape the way I work with the individuals I serve. The first is that there is nothing wrong with you. While at the same time, you have the desire to continue growing. As your therapist or coach, I will guide you through accepting this contradictory truth as it is where the healing and growth occurs.

The second concept is that we are whole beings. While we may think that relationship and communication issues only exist in one part of our lives, it is safe to bet that it also exists in other parts. Through our time together, I will help you recognize the themes and patterns in how you relate to others. We then will work to shift the patterns so that you are your happiest, most successful self.

Why I Love This Field

Before I even knew what a Social Worker was, I’ve been passionate about working to reduce the stigma of mental health. Over the years, I have found myself happiest serving in environments that reduce barriers to care for marginalized populations with mental health conditions. My work with people who live with eating disorders, mood disorders, and psychosis has opened my eyes to the need for specialized resources and care. I truly believe that my work as a Clinical Social Worker is bigger than me and I am dedicated to supporting individuals and their families that would not have otherwise sought out services.

My Background

My interest in the development of others has blossomed into over a decade-long passion as I obtained a Bachelor’s Degree in Sociology from Biola University. After graduating from the University of Southern California with a Masters in Social Work, I began developing a focus in helping individuals with the most severe and persistent mental illnesses. I have worked to stabilize individuals in crisis to prevent psychiatric hospitalization, incarceration, among an array of other issues that impair the independent and relational functioning of individuals.

  • How therapy works at PORT Counseling Group

    Get to the Root

Your therapy will likely start out with having sessions either weekly or biweekly. With your Therapist, you will get a better understanding of your presenting concerns and how they came about. Your therapist will also help you assess your level of coping and teach you additional strategies.

  • Do the Work

The bulk of your experience will be in doing the work, both in & out of sessions. You will work through implementing techniques to improve your mood and engagement in relationships in session, while completing tasks assigned by your therapist to further your progress.

  • Have Better Relationships

This is the point where you get to be #RelationshipGoals. You are having fewer therapy sessions and experiencing emotional healing from past relationship trauma. You are in a place where you are feeling more competent to handle whatever comes next.
